02 2015 ABEWK Draft Neighbourhood Plan for Regulation 14 Consultation

This consultation runs 16th February to 29th March 2015

The parishes of Abbeydore and Bacton, Ewyas Harold Group and Kentchurch (ABEHK) are developing a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP). We consulted you on the first Draft last year.  Taking your opinions into account, we have now produced a second Draft and we would like your views on the way the Neighbourhood Plan is progressing.

The purpose of the NDP is to reflect the wishes of our community regarding development in the area. This is an important opportunity to express your opinion on how development should proceed in the NDP area over the next 16 years. Once completed and approved by our community, the NDP will form part of the planning regulations governing the three parishes. It is based on the information gathered from questionnaires and public meetings over the last three years. This is the first formal consultation of the draft NDP, known as the Regulation 14 Consultation.

Further general information about the NDP process can be found at the Herefordshire Council website here https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/neighbourhood-planning and details of the ABEHK NDP can be found here https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/neighbourhood-planning/submitted-neighbourhood-areas-and-plans?q=SEA&type=suggestedpage#13590

I accept the need for housing in the Ewyas Harold area however my daughter who has a family in the village has been unable to obtain housing for her and her son for some considerable years. Despite us living locally, my daughter working locally and my grandson tending the local school, It appears that preference is given to newcomers.

      Dear John Jones

Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure of the answer to your points nor whether the NDP can address your concerns about the allocation of housing. So I am going to try and find out for you and get back to you as soon as possible. I will probably have to ask Herefordshire Council Planning Department but they are currently in a two week examination of the Core Strategy which is likely to be taking all of their time. I will pursue them but it may take a while to get an answer. I will also consult the company that is helping with the technical details of the plan, Kirkwells, and see what they have to say. This is likely to be quicker but again cannot say for certain how long it will take.

Please feel free to contact us again if you have any further queries or a follow up on this one.

      With best wishes

      Toby Murcott
      Chair, ABEHK NDP Steering Group.

Thank you for your comment. The school site and buildings are owned by Herefordshire Council and so the fate of the buildings will be decided by the Council. They are in the process of compiling a review of all Herefordshire Schools Estates and expect to publish the review in June/July this year. This should make it much clearer what is likely to happen to Ewyas Harold School. I hope this helps go some way to answering your question.
